2025
Opening Day is Saturday 15th of November at 10am
We will be open for 3 consecutive weekends
Sat. 15 & Sun 16 of November
Sat. 22 & Sun 23 of November
Sat. 29 & Sun 30 of November
From 10am to 5pm each day
We sell almost all of our wines direct to consumers.
This is the only way we’ve ever sold them (except for the small amount, around 10%, we export to other countries) because we love dealing directly with our customers and it keeps the prices down.
Our cellar door re-opens annually in November for three weekends. You don’t need to make a booking, just come on down and you’ll find us behind the bar where you can join in for a tasting. In fairness to others, we request no buses please as our tasting area is only a small space.
Anyone is welcome during cellar door opening time. All of the new release wines are available for tasting throughout our open weekends though sales are limited to what we have available at the time. Most of our wine is sold to our mailing list members (see below) and many of them come in to say hello, taste and collect their wine during this time as well. However, we keep a little wine aside each year for general cellar door sales, available to anyone who can visit, so that those not on the Mailing or Waiting Lists can get access to some wine too.
Many people choose to visit on our first weekend of opening because most of the wine available for cellar door sales often goes then but we try to keep some wine available over all three open weekends. Our wish is that anyone who visits anytime during opening can buy at least a bottle. Even so, we can’t promise that and the earlier you can get here the better. To help you keep up with what we have available at the cellar door, we post news of current wine availability on our Home Page in the days leading up to each of the 3 open weekends.
Quantities available will vary each year of course. Grape growing is a form of agriculture and therefore dependent on the weather. Production can be down by as much as half (or more) in a drought-year so we apologise for those leaner releases.
Although we don’t have a restaurant on-site, there are many excellent dining options nearby. From time to time, you might spot our wine on the lists or in the cellars of The Salopian Inn, The Victory Hotel or The Star of Greece.
We don’t currently have any online shop.
Our wine holds a special place in the hearts of our customers, some of whom have been with us for many years. Almost all our wine is sold exclusively to members of the Mailing and Waiting Lists. Each year, in early October, our valued members receive a personalised offer by post. The connection runs deep as many have visited our cellars and some have a long-standing association dating back to my father’s time. Unfortunately, our Mailing list is currently fully subscribed, and we are unable to add new names at the moment.
In 2001, we initiated a “Waiting List” for those interested to join the Mailing List. These people now receive a more limited wine offer each year, typically a few bottles depending on the vintage, at the same time as our Mailing List members.
By 2020 our Waiting List had grown significantly, prompting us to close it temporarily. However if you’re interested in becoming a member today, we invite you to provide your contact details for our “Reserve Waiting List.” This will ensure that when places become available on the Waiting List, we can consider moving you onto it. In the spirit of fairness, names will be upgraded from the Reserve List in the order we receive them. And in the meantime, when the season allows, we will also be happy to offer Reserve Waiting List members a few bottles each release.
We apologise for the limited quantity of wine available. Our commitment to quality remains unwavering, and we choose not to risk compromising it by increasing production.
**Please note that you must be 18 years of age or more to join the mailing or waiting lists.
Our wines are not commonly available in restaurants and bottle shops in Australia as we do not produce enough wine to sell in quantity to the trade. However, there are a few places who annually receive a small allocation. In the McLaren Vale region: The Salopian Inn Restaurant, McLaren Vale and The Victory Hotel, Sellicks Beach. In Adelaide: East End Cellars, Rundle St. In Sydney: Five Ways Cellars, Paddington.
If you are interested in obtaining our wine more immediately, including back vintages, you might discover available bottles that have entered the auction market (not by us) through auction houses like Langton’s Fine Wines (www.langtons.com.au).
For those who live outside Australia we have importers in the following countries: Millesimes Inc. in Japan, Martel AG in Switzerland, Caro’s in New Zealand, HJ Hansen in Denmark, Luvincorea in South Korea.
We have importers in several other countries, if you’re interested to track down a bottle or two let us know ([email protected]) and we will try to put you in touch with someone nearest to you.
Due to the limited quantities involved the wines may be sold out or hard to obtain in many of these markets.
