The wines from the 1996 vintage were made by David Noon and winemakers Scott Helmore (Drew’s then brother-in-law) and Clive Simmonds (a dear friend of David’s) who had managed the day to day running of the winery for the previous 10 years. The 1996 vintage was a kind one and Drew had managed to spend a couple of weeks in McLaren Vale during the March harvest, to assist with the winemaking duties. We (Drew and Raegan) had already set plans in motion to take direction of ‘Noon’s Winery’ later in the year but work commitments in NSW had to be met prior to making the move south.
